The main unit comes with a 2-5/16" hitch ball installed. A 2" ball is available for smaller trailers.

The total weight of the ProPride 3P® hitch is 195 lbs. This is approximately 75-100 lbs more than most conventional hitches.

The hitch bar assembly has 8.5" of travel in either the drop or rise.

The ProPride 3P® sits further back about 18" from the bumper, you may need to extend your safety chains, electrical cable, and breakaway cable, we sell that in a ProPride 3P® Complete Extension Kit.

Anti-Sway Trailer Hitch Specifications

To figure the model you will need you should estimate your loaded HITCH weight. Tongue weight is not hitch weight. Tongue weight is the force the trailer applies to the hitch ball. Hitch weight is the tongue weight plus the weight of your equipment. It does not hurt anything to pick the ProPride 3P® model that exceeds your estimated hitch weight as most dry tongue weights are heavier than listed by manufacturers and the higher ProPride 3P® model will give you more top end capacity in your weight distribution.

The number on each ProPride 3P® model indicates the weight distribution capacity of each model. For example, a 3P-1000 can adequately distribute UP TO 1000 pounds of loaded hitch weight.

Evolution of the Jim Hensley Hitch

In 1972 Jim Hensley built a small, simple prototype of his converging link hitch design. About 1976, with plans to pursue his hitch idea, Jim ran a patent search and found there was nothing even close to his idea in the patent office.

Central Innovative (CII) was incorporated to manufacture and sell the Eliminator Towing System.

In 1993 Jim received an inquiry for information from Colin Connell. Jim licensed the patent to the Colin, and in the first part of 1994 Hensley Mfg. Inc., was formed in Davison, Michigan for the manufacturing and sales of the hitch, now renamed the “Hensley Arrow Hitch”.

CII continued to build hitches for Hensley Mfg. for a time until they got up to speed.

Jim continued to work on design improvements that never materialized with Hensley Mfg. For this and other reasons Sean Woodruff, the 10 year Vice President of Hensley Mfg., ended his relationship with the company and began working on ProPride, Inc.

In October of 2007, Jim Hensley and Sean Woodruff worked to build the most advanced Hensley hitch design to date… the ProPride 3P®.

MYTH: Just Distribute the Weight Correctly and There Will Be No Sway

This is a very common statement and it is factually incorrect. A trailer CAN and WILL sway given enough of a cross wind or other side to side pressure regardless of load balancing. The same is true even if a weight distribution hitch is implemented. The only system that eliminates sway on a bumper pulled trailer is a Jim Hensley hitch, namely the ProPride 3P®.

Rain Water, Dust, Any Bump in the Road Can Reduce Friction Temporarily and Cause Sway

Water is a lubricant, so is fine dust. As a result of normal use a friction based solution like the Equal-i-zer® or sway control through 'capture' like the Blue Ox SwayPro® can have inconsistent amounts of friction applied under varying conditions. The ProPride 3P® (Pivot Point Projection) projects the pivot point of your trailer just forward of the rear axle, this stops trailer sway under any conditions.

MYTH: Just Get a 5th Wheel, The ProPride 3P® is Expensive

While it is true that the 5th wheel stops trailer sway just as a ProPride 3P® does, the cost of the ProPride 3P® is far less. Spending $15-$20K more on a truck that can handle the 5th wheel, while losing the use of the truck bed and spending 50% more on the trailer itself is a lot more expensive than a Pivot Point Projection hitch like the ProPride 3P®. The ProPride 3P® solves the problem as a kit that converts your rig to pivot the same way that a 5th wheel does. The ProPride 3P® also distributes the weight better than a 5th wheel does. Other anti sway systems that rely on friction do not work

ProPride Industries warrants to the original purchaser that this product, when purchased new directly from ProPride Industries, will be free from defects in material and workmanship for the lifetime of the original purchaser.

This Lifetime Warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the individual who initially purchased the product directly from ProPride Industries.

What is Covered:

This warranty covers defects in the materials and workmanship of the product under normal use and service.

What is Not Covered:

This warranty does not cover:

1. Damage caused by1 accident, misuse, abuse, neglect, improper installation, or unauthorized modification.

2. Normal wear and tear, including but not limited to scratches, dents, and cosmetic degradation that does not affect the product's functionality.

To make a warranty claim, the original purchaser must contact ProPride Industries with proof of original purchase (such as an order confirmation or invoice showing the date of purchase and purchaser's name). Instructions for returning the product for inspection will be provided at that time. The purchaser is responsible for any shipping costs associated with returning the product to ProPride Industries.

Limitations:

The remedies described above are the sole and exclusive remedies under this warranty. ProPride Industries shall not be liable for any incidental, consequential, or indirect damages arising from the use or inability to use this product.

    The ProPride 3P is absolutely the best hitch anyone could have. I’ve had four different hitch systems over the years, if the 3P was the first one I had there never would have been any others. It may cost more than a conventional hitch, but I know what I’ve spent on other mediocre hitches combined was more that the 3P.

    Installation was pretty easy, a few minor adjustments such as moving the emergency brake switch, removing and reinstalling the propane tray.

    Installed time for a test run! I felt the total control and stability right away, no comparison to the old Reese. I hit the two lane country road outside the storage facility and at 55 the 3P had me convinced I made a good decision to spend the money on it. Cruised onto the interstate with some crosswinds running 65-70 and sure you could feel a little wind push, but nothing like the old hitch and still was in total control with one hand. Came up on someone running a little slower (55-60) and the traffic was heavy. (Mother’s Day afternoon) I had an opportunity to pass, but as I looked in the mirror I saw a semi moving up on the left side running about 65-70 and decided to stay where I was to put it to the test. Truck passed and I didn’t feel a thing, not too far behind it was a bus and again no movement what so ever. Round trip test tow was about 50 miles in varying highway conditions. This thing is everything they say it is, and I can’t stop talking about how great it is. Our first longer trip is coming up in about a month and I can’t wait. NO MORE WHITE KNUCKLING FOR ME!



    Sean’s customer service is beyond approach. He was very patient and helpful in answering questions before the sale about some of the things I had read on the internet as I was doing my research. He returns emails very quickly and goes the extra mile to make sure the customer is completely satisfied.

    I have rated this hitch as 5 stars because it's workmanship is impeccable, and the idea of it is ingenious. It works as advertised...sway is non-existent. I probably shouldn't tell this, but I pulled my 35 foot travel trailer on the interstate past trucks on a windy day with one hand on the wheel, and glanced down at the speedometer. I was both scared and shocked because I was doing 83 mph! I didn't even realize it. It's a good thing my wife was asleep over in the passenger seat, or she would've probably killed me, because the speed was also displayed on the Garmin where she could easily have seen it.

    I'm not going to say like some folks do that I can't even tell that I'm pulling anything, but it sure makes it less noticable.

    The only thing I'm not liking about the hitch is I never was able to dial in the weight distribution. I ratcheted it up as high as possible, and lowered the hitch bar as low as possible, and I still am light in the front.

    I had to spend an unexpected $500 to put on a set of air bag springs to help with that problem. Not very happy with that, but it is what it is.

    I'm not handy at all, so when I was installing the hitch, Sean fielded somewhere in the vicinity of 20 calls from me from start to finish. He was very patient with me, even taking a call from his son's ballgame. Yeah, I was a pest.

    I've had it on about a month and a half, and had a problem with one of the weight distribution jacks starting to lean out. Emailed Sean...he got back to me within a few hours, and had me text him some pics of the problem. He then texted me back what to do. It appears to have fixed the problem. Waiting to tow the TT again to see if it's a permanent fix.

    If it's not, I'm very confident that Sean will make good on it, and make it permanent. He really seems to be that much of a stand-up guy.

    Yes, I spent a lot of money, and yes, I had an extremely difficult time getting this installed and to work right for me. But I'm a total klutz when it comes to anything to mechanical, so that's normal.

    Bottom line, I'm proud to be a customer of Propride Inc. and founder Sean Woodruff, and even prouder to count Sean as a friend.

    If you buy from him and his company, I can guarantee you will be both satisfied with the product and much, much safer when you're towing your traler.

    This time last year, we bought a 34' travel trailer. Our first trip was a 5 hour drive to the beach. I experienced fairly severe trailer swaying when semi trucks passed me in the left lane. That week at the beach, I worried about the the trip home every day. That's when I started my research on the Pro Pride hitch. For the remainder of the 2013 camping season, I tried different tongue weights, a second friction bar, filling the fresh water tank, etc. None of these things helped. So now I had a new trailer that I could not pull on the interstate highways.

    Since I could not afford to replace my Dodge Ram 1500, I spent the better part of the last 8 months saving for a 3P hitch. My new hitch arrived in April 2014. With a couple of phone calls and texts to Sean, I was able to install the hitch myself.

    We are currently on our annual beach camping trip. The drive down here was effortless. I could still tell that the pull and suck from the semi's was there, but there was absolutely no trailer sway! Just amazing! We will be driving home tomorrow, and I'm actually looking forward to pulling the camper.

    In case your wondering, I don't know Sean, we've never met. I'm just a regular guy that was hesitant to spend this much money on a hitch. But now, I can say it was money well spent.

    Well 2 round trips under our belt with the new PP hitch. 300 miles and 200 miles. Although neither trip had windy conditions the hitch operated flawless. Sean's customer service was just great with the questions we had before and during installation. He even called us back within 3 mins. on a Sunday afternoon! If you follow the easy to understand instructions, installation goes very smooth. After the first time or two hitching and unhitching becomes second nature, plus fast and easy. A real quality piece of equipment from a quality guy.

ProPride 3P Hitch, Hassle Free, 60-Day Guarantee

You can return the 3P Hitch at any time during the first 60 days of use for a refund. 60 days begins when you receive the product unless otherwise arranged for a later date. We must receive the product in Holly, MI in 60 days or less. All product must be returned in working condition with minor usage marks. Return of damaged parts will not be refunded and will be deducted from any money owed at the discretion of ProPride Industries. Returns of products other than 3P Hitch

You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund less any shipping charges. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.)

You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
